Last Night’s Meeting - Adobe Elements

Despite the terrible weather there was a good turn out for last night’s meeting for David’s talk on the basics of Adobe Elements editing software, we also welcomed some guests from the newly formed Little Baddow Camera Club and a new Baddow Camera Club member - Claire.

David started the evening with a demonstration on how to use Elements to enhance your photos; this included cropping, lightening or darkening areas and how to deal with converging lines and wonky horizons.

Because of the varying degrees of Elements expertise in the room advice was given on shortcuts or other methods to try to achieve the same results.

After the break it was time to watch a tutorial all about using layers within Elements, this took you step by step and showed how to select and remove your image, how to turn your chosen image into a transparency and then to build layers, merge layers, add colours with gradients to backgrounds and even add shadows.

This DVD is well worth a look and I believe that David holds a copy for members to use in their own time.

Thanks David for a really informative evening.

Next weeks meeting is an open competition, the judge is still to be confirmed and we will welcome back members from the Little Baddow Camera Club who wish to see how the competition is run.

Thanks in advance

National Geographic Live!: 21st-Century Cowboys

Hi Club member this was something i bumped into, an excellent insight of old style photography. A must watch.

Photographer Robb Kendrick uses a 19th-century tintype process for his luminous portraits of modern-day cowboys in western U.S. and Mexico.
